Reflect

Music is constantly chaotic and evolving, but always personal. This was the inspiration behind this generative system which fuses the artist’s identity with some of his musical journey’s aspects. The system fostered the team’s attempt to architect DjSarhi’s brand identity by capturing momentary tales of his music, whilst representing them in ‘Rorschach blot’ inspired ‘VIBEs’. By algorithmically mixing various seed inputs relevant to the musician, the system can iterate unlimited generations of curated design motifs – each telling a different and unique story.

Chirming

When Sook was young, she saw a pretty bird on the mountain but bird quickly flew away, leaving only sound behind. She looked up in the sky to find the bird, but all she could see was tree branches and forest. The bird kept on singing, but she had no idea where it was. From very young, bird was the tree branches and big forest to her. This experience made her to visualize the sound of birds like forest. The sound of bird relaxes mind and body. Paths of Light

The best way to hold the short animation Paths of Light by Zina Caramelo was to ensure that the DVD had a beautiful case to match. The packaging actually looks like it was plucked from the woods and moulded to form a CD. On the outside, various lines are visible, almost appearing as small trees growing up the side of the case. The wooden exterior also helps to give it an extremely naturalistic look. Paths of Light is an extreme update from the cases many saw for CDs in the 1990s, which usually consisted of basic plastic with a paper package to explain the contents inside.(text by J. D. Munro)

These are acts that sometimes last less than a second, and being so ephemeral, makes you run longuer in a shorter time. These are situations involving speed and high intensity. Nankin Lab is a design studio that recreates on these moments to generate new projects.
