Voice of Unity

Voice of Unity is a series of illustrations about epidemic prevention and control. Five Chinese idioms are paired with vivid scenes that show different aspects of the response to the outbreak. The illustrations record how many sectors of society treated the crisis seriously and cooperated with prevention work. The illustrations are printed at 800 by 800 millimeters.

Ryujin is an illustration inspired by the dragon deity of the sea in Japanese mythology. The artwork was made from scratch and follows a minimal approach with a strong focus on detail. The illustration is printed on posters, greeting cards and shirts. The aim was to convey the power of the character through traditional Japanese imagery combined with a personal style.

Shangri La Red Wine

Shangri La

Shangri La is a packaging design for a series of three red wines. The labels use traditional Oriental ink painting textures to suggest the flow of wine and the trunk of an old vine. Placed side by side, the three packages form one winding trunk. Each package carries an animal from the producing area: a butterfly for air, a fish for water and a pika for soil. The labels are made of kapok paper with a rough surface, and embossing forms the texture of old bark. The design draws attention to traditional art and to the natural environment.

Time Facial Mask

Time

Time is a packaging design created for a moisturizing facial mask. The box opens like a book, so the pages can be turned from the first to the last. The artwork uses a water beast from ancient Chinese mythology and colors taken from the Dunhuang murals. The outer package measures 200 mm long, 110 mm wide and 50 mm thick. Degradable paper is used as the main material. A UV brightening treatment and repeated embossing add contrast to the dark background. The design links traditional culture with a modern cosmetics brand.

The inside of the package is also illustrated, so the box can be kept and used as a decorative object in a room after the sweets are eaten. The packaging is produced in three sizes.

Lays Heartwork

Lays Heartwork is an advertising campaign created for the Lays brand during the Covid-19 pandemic. The campaign thanks the people who work behind the scenes within the Lays value chain, including farmers, factory workers, truck drivers, retailers and delivery workers. Bright and optimistic colors are combined with direct messages of gratitude across the pack design. Each pack becomes a tribute to community workers who are rarely thanked in person. The intent is to show that such daily work is not only hard work, it is heartwork.
